Sam and his wife, Jill, were married in 1990. She is without a doubt his partner in life and ministry. Sam and Jill both share “strategic” as their number one strength, so they spend a lot of time strategizing about almost everything. Jill is a leader in her own right having served not only the local church but also Mount Vernon Nazarene University and now Nazarene Theological Seminary. They love to spend time together dreaming, traveling (especially by motorcycle), and spending time with family. They are blessed with a terrific son, Ross, who is a graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene University.

Youth Ministries

Pastor Becky Nichols

Associate Pastor to Children & Families

Pastor Becky has served as the Associate Children’s Pastor since 2001. Originally from Woodburn, OR, she earned a BA from Northwest Nazarene University and is the Circulation Manager for Avila University.

“I long for that moment in a child when I see the light bulb go on and they understand who God is, what He is doing, and their walk takes on new depth.  To watch as the Fruit of the Spirit takes root in a child and reveals itself always humbles me and makes me stand in awe and who God is and how he works in our lives.”

Becky enjoys teaching children, reading, and cooking.

Children's Ministry

Pastor Julie Stevens

Pastor to Children & Families

Pastor Julie has served as the Pastor to Children and their Families since September 2015. Originally from Marion, OH, she graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University with a BA and MA in Religion. In nearly 24 years of full-time ministry, Julie founded and directed an inner city ministry in Nashville, TN known as Y-BUS through the YMCA and was the Director of Campus Ministries at Trevecca Nazarene University.  She has served on staff at churches in Nashville, TN, Houston, TX, San Diego, CA, Cincinnati, OH, Columbus, OH,  and now Kansas City. In 2012, Julie founded and became the Executive Director of Heaventrain Columbus and currently coaches and administrates this ministry from a distance. She is excited about all God is doing in Columbus neighborhoods and that the vision of Heaventrain is spreading to KC!

“I love seeing the eyes of children sparkle as they realize God’s great love for them. I love seeing kids/families experience what it is like to be a vessel of grace, peace and hope in the hands of our Father. My prayer is that our children know Jesus at a very young age. As they fall in love with God, His Word and become His disciples, I believe God can use even the youngest hearts to engage our community; point other children and families to Christ; and build disciples.”

Julie has two mini-dachshunds named Sierra and Hannah loves the beach and having people in her home.

I desire for us to reach the next level together --from where we are to what God has in mind for us as His Church.”
