OUR STORY

Central Church began in 1940 with a group of faithful followers of Christ meeting together in a rented building in Kansas City, Kansas. The world was at war and great uncertainty at nearly every turn, but with a missionary zeal and a desire to reach people with the love of Christ, the passion of the early members was evident as they soon purchased a building at 10th and Pacific. As lives were impacted and the church began to grow, they relocated to 18th and Barnett in the 1960’s and in 1981, Central moved to its current location on 87th Street Parkway. Throughout many years, there have been many great pastors and laypersons alike who have been faithful and joyful in their service to the Lord and to Central Church. The result is a great church that is making a difference in the Kingdom of God.

Central Church of the Nazarene is a part of the Church of the Nazarene with over 2.7 million members worshipping in more than 30,747 local congregations in 165 world areas. The church was founded in 1908 as the Lord brought together sincere believers who were experiencing the life-changing power of God in their revivals and church services.  If you’d like to learn more about Nazarene history and a complete picture of our churches scope and reach, check out nazarene.org.
