Dear Central Church,

A few weeks ago, I asked our congregation a question that the Lord has continually asked me throughout my ministry: “What would you do for the Kingdom of God if you knew you could not fail?” It’s a question that invites us to dream big and recognize the unlimited resources that are available to us in Christ Jesus.

Over the past several months, our staff and leadership team have been praying over this question, asking the Lord to clarify how He is calling us to serve our community. Recently, we sensed the Lord providing that clarity. I’m excited to share that we are moving forward with plans to begin a preschool ministry at Central Church.

This decision has been bathed in prayer and comes as a response to both the growing need in our community and our deep desire to introduce young families to Jesus.

After many years of faithfully serving as our church’s Early Childhood Director, Heidi Holmes has agreed to serve as the founding director of KidCentral Preschool.

Heidi brings a deep love for children and families, along with a passion to see people come to know Jesus through the local church. Our prayer is that KidCentral will become a front door for young families to encounter the love of Christ and become part of the life of our church. We are incredibly grateful for her leadership in this new ministry.

The core of the KidCentral program will provide preschool instruction and care for children Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Parents will also have the option of an extended-day program from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Our vision is to offer the highest quality preschool education and care at an affordable price. In doing so, we believe God will give us a meaningful platform to meet a real need for childcare while building relationships with families throughout our community.

This step represents a significant leap of faith for our congregation. In many ways, we are launching a small business—but our bottom line isn’t profit…it’s people.

Between now and our planned start date of August 17, we have several important improvements to make in our downstairs preschool area, including the installation of a new playground. We estimate the total start-up cost to be $250,000. By God’s provision, we already have $100,000 available, and we are prayerfully asking the Lord to provide the remaining $150,000 over the next year.

If you sense the Lord leading you to invest in this ministry, I invite you to prayerfully consider making a gift toward the launch of KidCentral.

I will share more about this vision at a congregational meeting on Sunday, March 29, following the second service. I encourage everyone to attend so we can pray together and support what God is preparing to do through KidCentral. If you are interested in enrolling your child or exploring opportunities to work in this new ministry, Heidi will be available at the meeting to talk with you.

In the meantime, feel free to reach out to Heidi or to me if you would like more information.

Thank you for your continued prayers. We are trusting the Lord to use KidCentral to “impact our community with the good news of Jesus Christ.”

Until He's Finished,
Pastor Mark
