Dear Central Church,

Last night the Milwaukee Brewers won the World Series. I hate the Brewers. I know the Bible says not to hate, but keep in mind it was written before the game of baseball was invented. I’m thinking there may be a loophole here for my loathsome disposition toward the Brewers??

Probably not.

Ok, I strongly dislike this team and pull against them every chance I get. However, they are indisputably the best team in baseball. They don’t have superstars, a large payroll, and they don’t hit a lot of home runs. They do, however, play the fundamentals of the game better than anyone else, and today they are World Series Champions.

There’s a lesson here for followers of Jesus. “Leveling up” in our faith isn’t about elaborate displays of spirituality. It’s not about how long you can pray, how much scripture you can quote, or how many hymns you know by heart.

The invitation to go to the next level in our walk with Jesus is simply to trust him more. It’s a deep belief that God will do for us what we could never do for ourselves.

In 1 Thessalonians 4, we are called to a holy life: “For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.” This is a high calling, well beyond our capacity, but when asked to do hard things, we have to go back to the fundamentals: trust God. God calls us to holiness and provides all that is necessary to answer the call, but we must trust him.

Join us Sunday as we “level up” together in our walk with Jesus.

Faith Promise Update

I have wonderful news to share! We’ve received $204,000 in commitments and anticipated giving towards this year’s Faith Promise goal of $205,000. This represents the generosity of more than 75 families in our congregation. Wouldn’t you like to join them and be a part of God’s mission around the world? Let’s push beyond our goal and empower our NMI council to dream big for God’s mission. To learn more or make a commitment, click here.

KidCentral Preschool Opening - Monday, November 2

We have received our license from the Kansas Office of Early Childhood! We can officially open on Monday and welcome families to the life-giving community of Central Church. Currently, our enrollment is small, but we believe this will be a year of growth.

In addition to prayer for Mrs. Heidi and her team, would you consider leaving a 5-star review on our Google and Apple Maps pages? Click the links to share with our community how much our church loves kids and young families!

I look forward to worshipping with you Sunday as we pursue God’s heart together!

On the Journey Together,

Pastor Mark
